FAQs
What kind of classes do you offer?
None at the moment, but I have offered seminars and workshops online (and at my home in Los Feliz when it’s safe to do so). The Q&A below only apply to times when I am actively offering classes.

How do I enroll for a course?
All workshops and seminars are listed here. To enroll in a class, you can send the payment using PayPal (send to a friend) or Venmo (@escapegrace). Please leave a note as to which class you’ve chosen. I reserve the right to decide not to accept an enrollment for any reason. After your payment has been received, all course information—including the Zoom URL and the first assignment—will be emailed to you. If a class is listed as sold out, you can always contact me to inquire about a waitlist at chrisdaleyWD@gmail.com.
I don’t see any new classes. What’s going on? Will there be more? How can I be among the first to know about new classes?
Yes! Don’t worry! I offer classes four times a year (usually beginning in February, April/May, July, and October), and the next session is announced at least a month before it begins. You can sign up for my newsletter here, so that you hear of new classes as soon as they’re announced.
What are your online classes like?
I use the Zoom platform and there is a maximum of eight students. To join the class, you'll only need to click on a URL I will send to you before the class begins and your fellow classmates and I will appear Brady Bunch opening credits style. Easy!
What’s your enrollment and payment policy?
All courses but one, as well as the ten-session coaching package, require a $100 non-refundable enrollment fee, which is included in the course fee. The Memoir in a Year class requires a $200 non-refundable enrollment fee. If you decide to drop a workshop within five days after the class start date (or the first coaching session), all but the enrollment fee will be returned to you. After the five-day grace period, there are no refunds, and you’re required to pay the full course fee no matter how many class meetings you attend. If you have pre-paid for coaching or critique services, you have one year to schedule the services before the payment expires. If you drop a course after the grace period, and you’ve chosen to pay in multiple installments, you are still responsible to pay the remaining course balance.
What are your payment plan options?
Students who are taking their first class with me must pay in full before the start of the class. For courses that cost $300 or more, I offer returning students the opportunity to pay in up to four installments depending on the course fee. If you are not a returning student, I can sometimes hold a place for you in the class until it fills so you have some extra time to pay.
Effective winter 2020, if a payment plan installment is not paid by a week after the deadline, the writer will automatically forfeit future use of payment plans. I offer payment plans to returning students as a courtesy to say thank you for choosing to study with me again. After the initial deposit, the deadlines for payment plans are emailed to students with their enrollment information. The payments are not automatically deducted, so by choosing a payment plan, the writer agrees to return to the website before the due date to make payments.
What is the 2Y Club?
I've instituted the 2Y Club for invited writers who have taken eight or more of my classes (2Y = two years) to recognize their support. Each term, as classes that are not sold out approach their start dates, I will offer remaining open spots in their classes to the 2Y Club for half price.
Where can I get information about accessibility?
Please feel free to contact me at chrisdaleyWD@gmail.com and I can provide information about accessibility for the online classes.
Is there any incentive if I refer a friend?
Why, yes, there is! Once you refer two friends, you receive $50 off your next class.
It looks like I’m too late to sign up for a class this session. Can I enter a class after it’s begun?
In most cases, I don’t admit students into a course that’s already begun. However, I do offer one-on-one consultations if you don't want to wait until the next term starts.
Do you offer classes for children or teenagers?
Unfortunately, my classes are mostly for writers over the age of twenty-one. Because people often ask, I put together some writing class recommendations for children and teens.
Do you offer editorial services?
Yes! Please refer to my Editing & Coaching page.
What is your privacy policy?
I’m committed to respecting your privacy. I do not and will never sell or rent your mailing address, email address, or any other data that can personally identify you in any way to an outside group.
